The Jessica Lunsford Act was passed by the Florida Legislature in 2005. Jessica was abducted and murdered by a sexual offender who was a contractor at her school. The Act imposed stricter regulations on former sexual offenders to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Today, 42 states have similar legislation.
